Los Angeles Fashion Week...runways to dazzle with fashions inspired by "Gossip Girl" & NBC's "Fashion Star" reality show!
At week's end, I'll be trotting off to Sunset-Gower Studios in beautiful downtown Hollywood to catch L.A. Fashion Weekend, where a smattering of dynamic runway shows are expected to dazzle locals, the chic trendy set, and swarming paparazzi jockeying for position below the floodlights.
Top designers such as Betsey Johnson, Vilorija by Jelena Vujanovic, the Sarahi House of Fashion and Ashlee Brooks will undoubtedly add a definite "wow" factor to the celebrated annual event.
On closing night, I am particularly looking forward to fashions inspired by a bevy of femme fatales (and studs) from top-rated popular nighttime TV shows such as the "Gossip Girl", the "Real Housewives of Orange County", and NBC's spanking-new reality show "Fashion Star".
Sorry, folks, the fashion extravaganza - which is expected to be electrically-charged - is only open to industry buyers, the media, and invitees of the high-profile hosts.
But, I'll be posting daily reports on the swirl of frenzied activities, for Tattler readers keen on following all the signature style events.
Although - "Fashion Week" doesn't make as big a splash in LA as it does each year in New York, Paris and Milan - each season West Coast fashion innovations tend to ripple (and impact) farther afield nonetheless.
In the coming week, as the chi-chi fashion event kicks into high-gear, locally-inspired designs are expected to break out and lead the pack at retailers around the Nation (perhaps the entire globe, too, depending on the media coverage).
Designers to keep an eye on include Andrea Lieberman, Raquel Allegra, Cerre, Of Two Minds, Newbark, L'Agence, Clare Vivier, Les Aperizes, Annie Costello Brown, J Brand, and Robert Rodriquez.
The "looks" range from the "Bohemian" (hippie influenced) with a jet-set flair (and sensibility) to relaxed romantic offerings which culminate in subtle - but strident - feminine and masculines mixes that add elegant panache.
For the men, sleek butter-soft leather jackets, sharp "skinny" suits (tailored to perfection) and updated denim innovations surge forward in sartorial splendour, sure to stand-out in the seasons ahead.
For women, the style choices run the gamut.
Discerning gals may reach for eye-catching satin blouses, wrinkled maxi-skirts, high-waisted slacks (for the slim babes, only, please!) - even stylilsh capes - fashioned in luxurious blends of cashmere that scream out "pricey" and "classy".
The cocktail hour will inspire the confident bimbo babe to don a leather dress and team it with a stand-out etched leopard print (even nude see-through one-of-a-kind lacey feminine blouses that blush) and, of course, a beautifully-accessorized designer hand-bag and signature jewellery to add spark to the mix.
Though the fairer sex may appear to be responding to pure whimsy, don't believe it for one moment.
The whole shebang has been cleverly (and carefully) calculated to turn heads and steal the spotlight.
By the way, this past week I fathomed up a "design idea" for a new line of jeans!
Just maybe, I'll craft 'em on an assembly line, and flog the lot on the Internet (alongside sharp simple "T's" etched with one or two of my original art prints on their face).
See 'ya at fashion week, eh?
