Mayor Oscar Goodman...greedy politician hogs jobs! Poor role model!
When former Mayor Oscar Goodman announced last week that he was accepting a part-time job for $60,000.00 a year to take on the task of promoting Las Vegas to tourists, the move stirred up a bit of controversy in the community-at-large.
In fact, some residents reacted angrily when the eye-brow-raising news splashed across their TV screens at home.
For example, on the RANT (Fox 5 News) one woman criticized Goodman for snatching up the job at a time when many are out of work and desperately in need of gainful employment.
In response - an irate gentleman dialed in to the RANT - and proceeded to insult the woman.
"You shouldn't open your mouth about things you know nothing about," he growled, in so many words.
Then, he proceeded to make the bold-face claim that the former Mayor was hired because he was an expert at being able to bring tourists into the city.
All Mayors across the country act as goodwill Ambassadors for the Cities they represent.
Mr. Goodman doesn't have any special skills in that regard, nor does he have a "corner" on the market!
In a post I penned about ten days ago, I was pretty frank about my position on the issue.
As far as I am concerned, Oscar Goodman is very greedy man with self-serving interests.
The former Mayor wore a mask to the world, in fact.
Although Mr. Goodman would have people believe that he cares about the locals and the tourists in Las Vegas, the truth of the matter is that he does not.
I know that for a fact.
For example, in the past individuals have written to Mr. Goodman to complain about violations of their rights on the streets of Las Vegas and - in particular - the outrageous conduct of rogue cops who have corrupted law enforcement agencies in the city.
Instead of addressing the issues, Mr. Goodman simply ignored the complaints!
The Goodwill Ambassador of Las Vegas didn't even give the taxpayer the courtesy of a reply!
The truth of the matter is that Mr. Goodman is a selfish son-of-a-bitch who would prefer to attend festive local events flanked by glitzy showgirls - with ubiquitous Martini in hand - than roll up his sleeves, find solutions to the city's growing problems, and - ultimately - earn his pay.
Until the city ousts folks like Oscar Goodman and his second banana (his wife) corruption and civil rights violations (racial profiling, too) will continue to plague Las Vegas.
I say, clean house!
