Jerry Lewis...to return as host of the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon? No! News update!
Though there has not been an official announcement, insiders close to the upcoming Muscular Dystrophy Telethon are whispering that Jerry Lewis will resume his duties as host of the annual fundraiser when it kicks-off this year.
Amidst a storm of controversy, brass at the telethon allegedly cut ties with Mr. Lewis a few weeks ago - at which point - a press release was dispatched to media outlets with the announcement that the comic would not be returning as host.
I reported on the intriguing turn-of-events at the Tattler when the news first broke.
If Lewis does grace the stage again (in a production that has been cut-back considerably), the star of such celebrated films as - The King of Comedy - is expected to croon the telethon's theme song (You'll Never Walk Alone).
Stay posted for updates!
A red-faced spokesperson for the Muscular Dystrophy Association announced today that he allegedly "misspoke" when he informed members of the press over the weekend that Lewis was returning as host of the upcoming telethon.
In a bold-faced effort to establish that Muscular Dystrophy Association and Mr. Lewis had resolved their "differences", the representative fessed up today that he gave the wrong impression.
While the MDA and Mr. Lewis have parted ways amicably, apparently, there are no plans for Lewis to return as host this year.
